Course description
Expedition- Journey with a purpose. It is an adventure of a lifetime. This is an intense discipleship program that concentrates on skill, team, and character development while exploring practical ministry opportunities. It encompasses coaching, mentoring, and service ministry at home and abroad. A key element is the overseas training and cultural experience. Students will have the opportunity to earn 6-9 academic course credits as well as 2 units of field education. This experience will help students discover the direction God has for their life.

Course Objectives
Knowledge (Think) What you should know and understand
The student will have a better understanding of the New Testament by taking New Testament I course, and Walk thru the bible seminar.
The student will know how to plan and lead a bible study.
The student will be able to effectively communicate their personal testimony.
The student will learn how to present the gospel, answer questions effectively, and lead someone into a personal relationship with Jesus.
The student will learn the skill of spiritual journaling.
The student will discover what their spiritual gifts are.
The student will discover their personal leadership style: strengths, and weaknesses.
The student will discover their personal team profile and how they work with others.
The student will learn to communicate effectively- public speaking, teaching, etc.
The student will learn how to plan and lead a youth weekend.
The student will learn how to plan and lead a large group worship time.
The student will learn conflict management, coping with stress skills.
Serve (Do) What you should do with what you learn
The student will plan and lead at least one bible study
The student will publicly share their personal testimony
The student will have an opportunity to present the gospel message.
The student will keep a journal throughout the expedition experience.
The student will have an opportunity to do some public speaking/ teaching.
The student will be part of planning and leading a youth weekend.
The student will be part of planning and leading a large group worship time.
The student will experience various spiritual disciplines: prayer, fasting, meditation, worship.
Character (feel) What you should feel and appreciate
The student will keep a spiritual journal of the inner city Toronto trip, Montreal experience, and overseas experience, causing them to appreciate different cultures and lifestyles.
The student will appreciate different leadership styles.
The student will appreciate the different roles people play on a team.
The student will appreciate the work it takes to live in a team setting.
The student will feel like they have grown in their practice of spiritual disciplines: prayer, fasting, study, meditation, worship, etc.
The student will feel a sense of empathy with our hurting world.
Course Requirements
6 Credits for completing expedition course on a pass/fail basis
*180 Hours total
*60 hours teaching (Seminars/Workshops)
*60 hours experiential (trips, hands on ministry)
*60 hours assignments (journal, reading)
2 Field Education Credits:
1 Field Education Credit: Inner City Toronto Trip
1 Field Education Credit: Overseas trip or Montreal trip
3 Academic Credits:
Completing all reading and assignments for course during J-term.
