Looking for an Expedition Intern 2009
Looking for something fun, and rewarding to invest 4 months of your life in?
Interested in traveling, expanding your ministry experience, and growing in your faith?
How would you like to make a difference in the lives of young people forever?
Why not consider being an intern for expedition…….
From January to April 2009 you will have the opportunity to experience a variety of local ministry experiences, spend 1 week in inner city New York City ministry, 2 weeks in Quebec, 1 weekend with First nation youth, 1 weekend at Medeba adventure camp, 1 week at Centre for Student Leadership in Collingwood and 4 weeks overseas (potentially Bolivia).
All your expenses are paid (except local food and housing, immunization, First aid training, passport, and out of the country medical insurance) along with a small honorarium.
Intern must be at least 25 years of age with a valid drivers license.

Expedition Intern Job Description
Type of Work
Direct discipleship ministry of 6-8 college students.
Intern will be responsible for traveling with team to inner city trip for 1 week, Montreal for 2 weeks, Overseas for 4 weeks, Saugeen First Nation camp for a weekend, Medeba Camp for a weekend, 1 week at Centre for Student Leadership and various local ministries.

Hours
Orientation December 2008
January to April 2009

Level of Pay
All program expenses covered
$­50 a week given towards living expenses.

Experience Needed
● Leadership skills
● Team building skills
● Conflict management
● Discipleship training
● Strong Communication and relational skills
● Confident in leading small groups.
● Good at problem solving and dealing with personal conflict.
● High organizational ability. Able to organize people and projects.
● Overseas experience would be an asset.

Supervisor
Director of Expedition- Janet Collins

Evaluation
Meet regularly with Supervisor to determine how things are going.

Expectations
Fulfill responsibilities listed below.
Regular meetings with Supervisor.
Travel, spend time with the students over the 15 weeks of the project.
Committed to a biblical lifestyle, respectful and willing to live according to the standards of the College community.
Committed to an evangelical expression of faith; able to sign the statement of faith of the College.
First aid training.
Current passport.


Responsibilities
Meet with Supervisor to evaluate progress of team and project.
Liaison between team members and organizations we are working with.
Evaluation of experiences.
Drive Students to and from places with vehicle provided. Therefore, must be 25 years of age or older.
Debrief team after each experience.
Organize team to fulfill responsibilities of group: ministry projects, cooking, etc.

Introducting Expedition 2008

Hi my name is Sarah and I am the Expedition intern for 2008. I would like to take a moment and introduce you to the exciting group of students that make up Expedition 2008. What follows is a picture and brief interview with each student. The hope is that this brief interview will help inform your prayers for them. The interviews were taken at the beginning of the semester.

Kristen Scott
Why did you decide to go on Expedition?
I decided to go on Expedition to grow spiritually and to gain experience on the Mission field
What are you most excited about?
I am most excited about traveling and learning to work together as a team
What are you most nervous about?
I guess I would say I am nervous about being stretched in leadership

Erica Woodford
Why did you decide to go on Expedition?
I needed to find direction and clarification for my life as well as strengthen my walk with God
What are you most excited about?
I am most excited about the mission trips, the growth both spiritual and mental and all the people I will meet.
What are you most nervous about?
I would say I am most nervous about what it is going to take to grow and how I will react to being pushed as well as all the people.

Stephanie VanSpronsen
Why did you decide to go on Expedition?
I am decided to go because I love adventure! I had been looking for something to do in order to help me discover God’s plan for my life. Expedition sounded like it offered a unique way to do that.
What are you most excited about?
I am very excited about using the gifts God has given me to benefit others.
What are you most nervous about?
I am nervous about being away from home!

Why did you decide to go on Expedition?
I decided to go on Expedition to learn new things and determine what forms of ministry I am good at.
What are you most excited about?
I am excited about traveling and meeting new people. I am also excited about getting to know the team.
What are you most nervous about?
The unknown

Erica Jones
Why did you decide to go on Expedition?
I decided to go on Expedition because I truly love and have a passion for missions. I thought this was a great opportunity to take before I go on to further education
What are you most excited about?
I am very excited to see my gifts and talents that God has blessed me with be used in amazing ways. I am excited to be stretched spiritually.
What are you most nervous about?
I am nervous about speaking in front of large groups but I am looking forward to becoming more comfortable with this.

Why did you decide to go on Expedition?
I wanted to join expedition to see if I was able to handle and overseas experience and I had heard good things about the program.
What are you most excited about?
I am excited to be working with the team. I am excited to be meeting and working with people who are new and different. I am also looking forward to new experiences and interesting classes.
What are you most nervous about?
I am nervous to be leaving the country and the people I know
